Position Summary:  

The Clinical Informaticist (CI) enhances the provider and patient experience by developing and communicating best practices for how Unified’ s providers and staff utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR). A successful candidate will combine clinical knowledge with technology experience as they work across Unified’ s women’s health organization.

The CI will develop best practice workflows, clinical templates and order sets for the EHR including any technical crosswalks or terminology mapping. The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for aligning and improving processes and system applications to provide clinicians with effective tools and technology, while maintaining consistency across the enterprise. 

The CI works closely with clinical and departmental leadership, Quality, Compliance, and Information Systems staff to clarify needs, prioritize requests, recommend technology design, workflow design, and support change to the EMR and related technology.

The CI educates clinicians across the enterprise and champions the benefit of changes, facilitates communication and assists in assimilating information technology into daily practice.

Essential Job Functions:  

  • Develop best practice workflows, templates and order sets, and drive adoption through the enterprise
  • Partner with clinical and departmental leadership to identify needs, prioritize requests and build alignment
  • Lead Clinical Content Committee agendas, goal setting, coordinate workgroups and execution on Clinical Content Changes for the enterprise
  • Support the identification and/or development of new approaches and technologies to achieve clinical goals

Additional Job Functions:

  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Develop streamlined system workflows for end users. Provide guidance to management on implementing new technologies to improve the organization's current workflow
  • Participate on clinically focused committees and provide recommendations for planning, development and implementation of new processes within the clinical applications
  • Coordinate intake and follow-up of requests for enhancement and changes from users or other system stakeholders
  • Participate in revisions, testing and integration of changes in components of the EHR
  • Provide proactive user support of the EHR including, but not limited to, training and education
  • Maintain a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current EHR, its functions and its relationship to other information systems within the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of clinical and information technology experience including EHR experience
  • Project management experience from initiation phase to closure phase, including the ability to drive and measure change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively articulating complex information to a variety of technical and non-technical users
  • Ability to train clinical processes and systems
  • Ability to work with various staff and managers, building collaboration, positive relationships, and serving as a process improvement change agent
  • Ability to understand the customer's needs, research issues, design and deliver quality resolutions
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations 10%-15% of the time
