Position Summary

Unified Healthcare is an HR service provider to a multitude of OBGYN healthcare practices with 7,000 employees in multiple states across the U.S. The Benefits Administration Manager will focus on the areas of 401k plan management and leave of absence administration. This role will work with the 401k record keeper and advisor to ensure all plans are managed compliantly including annual discrimination testing, plan audits, and 5500 filings. This role will also ensure employee leaves of absence are managed compliantly, tracked appropriately, and return to work accommodations handled as needed with the appropriate HR Manager. This role will also coordinate M&A activities including side by side comparisons of before and after benefit plan coverage and costs and play an active role in helping migrate employees into new benefit plans.

Retirement Programs

  • Oversees retirement plan administration and compliance. Includes managing enrollment, discrimination testing, plan reviews and communications. Resolves employee issues and responds to employee questions.
  • Coordinates with record keeper and advisor on 401k committee to ensure fiduciary requirements are met.
  • Audits deferrals and loans regularly. Manages required annual reporting & compliance requirements.
  • Manages the 401(k) employee education programs.
  • Ensures accurate deductions and plan funding happens timely.
  • Collaborates with Unified Healthcare’s affiliate governance boards to resolve issues and facilitate proactive and effective messaging to educate employees about benefits while promoting the company’s strategic objectives.

Absence Management

  • Manages leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and company leave policies, including leave requests intake, leave eligibility determination, sending required notices, forms and letters, and independently approving or denying leave cases based on relevant medical information and recertifying leaves in accordance with Company policy within required timeframes.
  • Ensures the integration of various disability management programs are facilitated as needed and any and all benefits are provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Oversees other benefit programs such as Short-Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Workers’ Compensation, health benefits, paid time off programs and other internal and external benefits are coordinated with employees.
  • Responsible for the interactive process of requests for accommodation including the “return-to-work” process, ensuring consistency and compliance with state and federal leave laws.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with HR Business partners, employees, and managers, to ensure that proper communication and coordination takes place.

Required Education and Experience

  • BA or BS degree in Human Resources, Business or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, required
  • 8+ years of experience in benefits administration; heavy emphasis in 401k plan management and leave of absence administration.
  • Experience with M&A benefit plan migration preferred.
  • Experience with administration of benefits programs in multiple states, preferred
  • In-depth benefit compliance knowledge, this includes 401k and federal, state & local law requirements.
  • 3+ years of managing, leading teams and implementing project initiatives
