Position Title: Senior Accountant

External Description:

Position Summary:  

  • Performs routine account analysis (monthly, quarterly or annually) as assigned in order to ensure accuracy in the accounts of the general ledger
  • Conducts analysis to explain and document the balance in each account in detail, including any adjustments being made to the account.
  • Assists in preparation and coordination of surveys of financial, statistical and other information for distribution to external groups and agencies.
  • Initiates and prepares journal entries including both routine entries as assigned and entries required due to account analysis.
  • Acquires in-depth knowledge of quickbooks accounting software system to provide instruction and direction to practice administrators to facilitate implementation of proper procedures; applies generally accepted accounting principles in the maintenance of the General Accounting system of the organization.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including any required analysis of reports and the preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Reconciles operating, payroll and all other remaining bank accounts.
  • Provides information and assistance to any audits by government agencies related to their specific areas of responsibility.
  • Assists independent outside auditors, including answering questions regarding account analysis, journal entries and obtaining requested files and reports.
  • Interacts via phone and meetings with other hospital personnel periodically as deemed necessary or directed.
  • Inputs journal entries and system maintenance activity on computerized general ledger system and participates in editing and correcting of output from the system.
  • Operates under limited guidance and work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • Reconcile bank accounts 
  • Maintain fixed assets 
  • Performs special projects as assigned
  • Reviews care center accounts for accuracy 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Five plus years' experience working as an Accountant in the healthcare field preferred
  • Expert proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Experience communicating logically and clearly both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
  • Ability to provide excellent, client-focused service
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Experience working with Pivot Tables, Vlookup and Macros preferred
  • Well organized, detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
